Ready for Winter, Waiting for Spring

IMG_0351looking_at_fall The gardens are tucked in for the winter with their blankets of leaves and hay.  As much as I love gardening I admit to feeling some relief after the frenzy of harvest and the rush to get the produce preserved and stored for the winter.  Yet this print,  by artist J. Anne Eldridge,  captures the ever hopeful  plans of the gardener.  Titled “Looking at Fall, Thinking of Spring”, it pictures the dry and broken corns stalks and brown leaves of the spent garden in the foreground but behind them, faintly present, are the drawings of next season’s garden plot.  So it continues.  Have a happy holiday season and a warm and restful winter.  Ellen
