Vegetables on Parade

When I was in Atlanta visiting my sister this Fall, we went to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.  Food Gardening is featured and the walkway leading to that section is lined with these wonderful seasonal vegetable sculptures by Philip Haas.  He has created these after the paintings of 16th century Renaissance artist Guiseppe Arcimboldo, who was known for his “composite portraits”–paintings in which his subjects were depicted in mosaic like assemblages of objects.

As we sit in snowy splendor paging through seed catalogs, it’s fun to remember the gardening season ahead.  row of vegetable sculptures Spring sculpture Summer sculpture Fall sculpture Winter Sculpture
